“Mapping Accuracy Assessment of UAS Platforms” Presented by Prof. Riadh Munjy, PhD, PE, Chairman of the Civil & Geomatics Engineering Department, California State University, Fresno
Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry has been progressing rapidly in the last ten years. The main objective of this study is to assess the accuracy of UAV photogrammetry and its potential to satisfy department of transportation (DOT) mapping requirements. A control site with 81 high precision targeted control points has been established specifically for this study. This study presents the analysis of a number of UAS aerial triangulation projects and analyzes their systematic errors using different software and ground control points schemes. These projects involve fixed wing and rotary UAS platform with rolling and global shutters camera systems.
